Learning Objectives

The course aims at providing students enrolled in the fourth and fifth year of the degree course with a specialized in-depth study of landscape history topics. After completing the courses of the first three years, with courses in architectural history that cover the chronological span from antiquity to the contemporary world, the course offers the opportunity for a thematic and methodological in-depth study, at a scale of the landscape. The aim of the course is also to introduce students to themes, tools and methods of historical research through some case studies.

At the end of the course, students

- will have reached an adequate knowledge of the themes and problems connected to the landscape history.

- will have developed their own method of study and research that will allow them, on the basis of the knowledge acquired, to deal independently with research on different topics.

- will have learned to critically read a modern and contemporary landscape, in the different aspects that have constituted it, and to recognize the historical matrixes.

- They will have learned to use tools and methods of biliographic investigation and research of historical sources.

Course Structure

The teaching includes lectures and some seminar meetings.

Learning process check tests will be scheduled through classroom seminars (optional, since course attendance is not compulsory).

The final exam consists of an interview on the different topics covered by the lessons.

Learning assessment may also be carried out on line, should the conditions require it.

Should teaching be carried out in mixed mode or remotely, it may be necessary to introduce changes with respect to previous statements, in line with the programme planned and here outlined-
