Learning Objectives

The aim of the Course of Environmental Design is surveing the complexity between Design and Environment; in a specific place the urban form and the climatic specifications are variable and the design process has to assume this issues as specific constraints.

The training objectives aim to build specific competences in line with the contents of the Dublin descriptors and thus:

1. have demonstrated knowledge and understanding that is founded upon and extends and/or enhances that typically associated with the first cycle, and that provides a basis or opportunity for originality in developing and/or applying ideas, often within a research context;

2. can apply their knowledge and understanding, and problem solving abilities in new or unfamiliar environments within broader (or multidisciplinary) contexts related to their field of study;

3. have the ability to integrate knowledge and handle complexity, and formulate judgments with incomplete or limited information, but that include reflecting on social and ethical responsibilities linked to the application of their knowledge and judgments;

4. can communicate their conclusions, and the knowledge and rationale underpinning these, to specialist and non-specialist audiences clearly and unambiguously; have the learning skills to allow them to continue to study in a manner that may be largely selfdirected or autonomous.

Course Structure

The course foresees frontal lessons and exercises in the classroom.

Should teaching be carried out in mixed mode or remotely, it may be necessary to introduce changes with respect to previous statements, in line with the programme planned and outlined in the syllabus.

Moreover the possibility of coordination with the course of Economy and environmental appraisal has been characterized, in particular the topic regarding the qualification of the urban place of an area of Forlì, will be the subject of assessments to be carried out within the course of Economy and environmental appraisal regarding the costs of the installations and the impact that the plan would determine in terms of increase of market value of the property real estate in the area concerned.

Detailed Course Content

The Environmental Design is a part of Technology of Architecture that explores the relations between the building process and the environment transformations. To do this is necessary to know the characteristics of eco-systems. Technology gives to designers a knowledge support for understanding how the design process can get a conscious use of resources and territories.

An "ecological approach" to the project doesn't limit it to the safeguard of the resources but curtains to optimize a philosophy of intervention that wants to make to cohabit the social and economic development with the maintenance of the biodiversities and the maintenance of the natural trials.
In an ample meaning, borrowed by the philosophical thought, the meaning of environment is wide to the totality of the becoming and the Environmental Planning it assumes three values: ethics as tool of reading of the relationship between population and resources, technique as search of solutions finalized to the saving of the resources, to the attainment of the environmental comfort, to the development of the art of the to build; aesthetics for a search of the perceptive quality of the manufactured articles.
